What's new in Flocus
Flocus is built in the open-ish. Every release is listed here — what changed, what got fixed, and what we got wrong. If something you reported made it in, it'll be in this list.
[1.1.0] — 2026-09-12
Added
- Prebuilt lessons for CAT, SAT and IELTS. 37 new lessons join the 49 for GATE CS, so the free tier resolves real prebuilt content for four exam tracks instead of asking to generate one.
- A day counts if you show up, however you show up. A tutoring session, a finished lesson, or a cleared recall deck now each extend the streak and award XP, credited once per day.
- The app works offline. Your streak, XP, courses, mastery and any lesson you have already read are kept on the device, so opening Flocus on a plane shows your real account instead of an empty one. The recall deck works fully offline.
- Out of something? Watch a short video instead of waiting. Running out of hearts mid-session, or out of today's lesson allowance, now offers a rewarded ad as an alternative to upgrading or waiting for tomorrow.
- Purchases are confirmed on screen, and Restore Purchases reports what it actually did.
- Terms of Use and Privacy Policy are now reachable from the paywall itself, not only from Profile.
- Photo questions now work. Point your camera at a problem — handwritten, printed, from a textbook — and the tutor works from what it sees.
Fixed
- Opening the app offline could permanently erase your account. Fixed — an offline session no longer overwrites mastery, session history, misconceptions, goals and XP with empty defaults.
- A lesson you had already paid to generate was thrown away if you left the screen or backgrounded the app while it was being written.
- In dark mode the app's own chrome went dark underneath our light screens — dialogs, the keyboard, text selection, the sign-in browser tab.
- The paywall could not scroll, so on a smaller phone the plans and the button to buy them could be off-screen with no way to reach them.
- The session composer sat underneath the Android navigation bar, so send, mic and attach were partly unreachable.
- We advertised a 14-day free trial without checking whether one existed. Trial and billing copy now comes from the store, so the app states the real terms — including that subscriptions auto-renew, and the billing period next to the price.
- Generated lessons could contain unreadable maths. Lessons are now checked for that before they ship, and markdown that leaked into the read-aloud narration is stripped rather than spoken.
- Notifications could arrive in the middle of the night, arrived twice for the same appointment, repeated one frozen sentence every day forever, showed as a white square on Android, were never displayed on iOS while the app was open, and went nowhere useful when tapped.
- Turning notifications off at the phone level left the in-app switch claiming they were on.
- Secondary text throughout the app was too light to meet contrast guidelines.
- Maths and science content was unreadable. Prompts now pin output to plain Unicode instead of raw LaTeX.
- Chemical formulas could be mislinked in the glossary, and non-Latin scripts (Arabic, Greek, Cyrillic, accented Latin) could be erased entirely — both fixed.
- Lesson paragraphs were discarded, so every section rendered as one wall of text.
- Multiple-choice questions missing an answer key are now dropped rather than shipped unanswerable.
- Grounded web search ran on every tutor turn instead of on request. Now opt-in via "Find resources", with a per-user daily cap.
Changed
- The streak card no longer says "Appointments kept, not minutes in app" — it counts days shown up, since any of three activities now qualifies.
- A GDPR/GPP consent prompt is shown where required before any ad is requested.
- Removed the promo "code" field. It accepted anything and gave the same result as entering nothing.
- Removed a claim about our own funding from the purchase flow, and a claim that cancelling takes "two taps" — it is the store's flow, not ours.
